French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France could officially recognize a Palestinian state as early as June during a United Nations conference co-hosted with Saudi Arabia.
The move is part of a broader diplomatic effort to advance peace in the Middle East and support a two-state solution. Macron emphasized that recognition of Palestine would also reinforce international support for Israel’s right to exist. While nearly 150 countries already recognize Palestine, most major Western powers, including France, have not yet done so.
The upcoming conference in New York could mark a significant shift in France’s foreign policy stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
